Homemade Aussie Pineapple and Beet Cheeseburger

The “Aussie Burger with the Lot” is a classic Australian burger known for its abundance of toppings. It’s a true representation of the Aussie love for hearty, flavourful burgers. Here’s how you can make it:

Method

  • Preheat the BBQ grill to medium-high heat.
  • Season the beef burger with salt and pepper, and grill it until cooked to your liking.
  • In a separate pan, cook the bacon until they are crispy. Set them aside on paper towels to drain excess grease.
  • Grill the pineapple rings on the BBQ for a few minutes on each side until they have nice grill marks.
  • In the same pan, fry the eggs.
  • Assemble the burger by spreading butter or mayonnaise (if using) on the toasted burger buns.
  • Start layering the ingredients on the bottom bun in the following order: lettuce leaves, beef burger, cheese slice, bacon, fried egg, grilled pineapple, sliced beetroot, sliced tomatoes, sliced onions, and pickled beetroot (if using).
  • Add a dollop of tomato sauce or BBQ sauce on top of the layered ingredients.
  • Close the burger with the top bun, and press down gently to hold everything together.
