Sheep

While most sheep varieties only produce young in the spring, Poll Dorset sheep are unique in that they breed all year round. This means that we can provide our customers with new-season lamb 12 months of the year.

Our flock is MVS accredited, which means that High Health Status is maintained under veterinary supervision.

Free roaming sheep

In the summer our sheep are grazed on the farm and in surrounding areas where they provide environmentally sensitive grazing that improves floral biodiversity.

The flock graze stubble turnips in the winter months. These are planted as a cover crop after the main harvest and not only provide nourishing feed but also help to maintain soil structure and capture carbon. Sheep are also fed high quality silage and hay. The use of concentrate (barley) feed has been reduced over the years and will to decrease further with the introduction of lucerne into the farm rotation.
