We are cattle enthusiasts and care deeply about the welfare of our herds, which include Highlands, Traditional Herefords, Welsh Blacks, Limousins and Simmentals. Each breed has its own character and temperament and makes a wonderful addition to the Norfolk landscape.

Most of our cattle are born and raised on the farm, cared for to the highest standards of welfare and veterinary supervision, and our herds have High Health Status in the CHeCs scheme managed by Scotland’s Rural College.


Cattle are grazed in the summer at Intwood Farm and on neighbouring land, where in many cases they are introduced to provide environmentally sensitive grazing to improve the biodiversity of the flora. In the winter cattle are fed on stubble turnips planted as a cover crop after the main harvest to maintain soil structure and capture carbon in the process. We also feed carrots and potatoes not suitable for supermarkets, plus good quality silage and hay. We have been reducing the use of concentrate (barley) feed over the years and will be able to cut this further as a new cropping regime of lucerne is introduced into the farm rotation.
