Our new Horned Dorset Ram is quite a sight. Here he is being checked out by the vet prior to going out to grass to enjoy the summer sunshine
Most of our sheep are Poll Dorset this means they do not have horns so why have we bought a Horned Ram? He was purchased to widen the gene pool in our flock and although he is horned all his offspring will be Polled (hornless as the Polled gene is dominant) This is a common practice amongst Dorset sheep breeders and leads to healthier flocks due to keeping the gene pool varied.
